Helen W and team ski 100k in a day

Helen has completed the first part of her challenge: along with team-mates Rebekah Wright, Charles Davies, Peter Beckett and Mike Parsons, she skied 100 kilometres in a day, descending the equivalent of the height of Everest, twice. That’s skiing first to last lift, no stops. Luckily they had a good support team bringing them food and hot chocolate to consume on the lifts and a ski instructor to ensure they could use the fast lane at any lift queues. They did it by the skin of their teeth – the lifts closed before they had the full 100k on the clock, so they had to WALK back up a bit of piste and ski down!  All for a good cause.

If anyone is interested in doing a 100k ski day next year, the team are thinking of putting on an organised event. Suitable for strong skiers with a lot of determination only!

The rest of Helen’s challenge (running 100k over 10 days, rowing 100k in a week, cycling 2 100k rides over 2 days) takes place in June.
